The Chamberlain Group, Inc. and A&D Automatic Gates, located in Redwood City, Calif., donated electronic gates and gate operators for the residents of the St. Francis Center, a low-income residential community, also located in Redwood City, Calif.
The 24 families of the St. Francis Center, who previously parked their cars in an open lot, experienced frequent vehicle break-ins and car thefts. Sister Christina Heltsley, the executive director of the Center, brought the situation to the attention of A&D Gates, a Chamberlain dealer rooted in the community for the past 30 years.
“After hearing about the trouble, everyone at A&D wanted to help those families,” said Art Hird, president of A&D Automatic Gates. “Our employees volunteered their time on weekends to build the custom gates and install the operators that would ultimately provide the safety and peace of mind that every family is entitled to.”
”A&D has been a top-notch dealer in the Chamberlain family for years, and when they told us about this project, we immediately jumped at the chance to help,” said David Schiek, territory sales manager, Chamberlain Professional Products., The Chamberlain Group, Inc.
Chamberlain donated Elite™ Miracle One™ operators that are especially designed for residential applications with limited space clearance and moderate use. For added security, the Miracle One operator features a battery backup system that will keep the unit functioning up to 100 cycles in the event of a power outage. Each family was also provided with a remote control to operate the gate without having to get out of their car.
