When Hillside, Ill., resident and Army veteran Sergio Lopez returned from Iraq where a roadside bomb took both this legs, his dreams of owning a home with an attached garage to better help his wife carry in groceries from the car was still very top-of-mind for this determined and thoughtful veteran. The Hillside Disabled Veterans Home Project (HDVHP) is a nonprofit organization that has been established to continue to raise money for the construction of a handicapped accessible two-story home for Sergio Lopez and family.
