CHAMBERLAIN PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS LEADS THE CHARGE FOR COMMERCIAL DOOR OPERATOR COMPLIANCE AT IDA EXPO 2010
Preview the LiftMaster UL325-2010 Compliant Commercial Door Operator Product line.
A sizzling topic of interest at this year's annual IDA Expo, held in Las Vegas, April 21-24, 2010, will be the upcoming UL325 - 2010 regulatory compliancy requirement for all commercial door operators. More noteworthy will be the efforts manufacturers are taking to prepare for the impending August 29, 2010 deadline to receive UL approval for compliance to the new code revision in order to maintain the UL mark on their operators. This is important as state and local building codes will likely require UL compliance, and UL-labeled product, as a matter of policy.
Consistent with their long-standing reputation for innovation and leadership in this industry, Chamberlain® Professional Products is set to preview their full line of LiftMaster® UL325 - 2010 compliant commercial door operators, including the new Logic 4.0 control board and monitored entrapment protection system, raising the bar once again for the commercial door operator industry and providing dealers with exactly the type of performance that will soon be mandatory for UL compliance. In order to present dealers with the most up-to-date information regarding the UL325 - 2010 revision, as well as a demonstration of actual compliant products, Chamberlain Professional Products is scheduled to have several fully functional UL325 - 2010 compliant LiftMaster Logic 4.0 operators, Medium Duty Logic and accompanying tutorials on display in their IDA exhibit space (booth 1025).
"As a testament to our history of innovation and our reputation for pioneering commercial door operator innovation, we have been anticipating this change, preparing for it over time, and we are confident in our ability to lead this newest charge for UL compliancy," states Randy Planck, director of marketing, commercial products division.
"We look forward to helping dealers and professional installers get acquainted with these new operators, and we take great pride in our ability to offer them the broadest, deepest and safest line of solid-state controlled commercial door operators available," continues Planck.
Although UL325-2010 compliancy is voluntary, but necessary to maintain the UL mark, the revised guidelines of UL325 - 2010 will require that all commercial door operators must provide a continuously monitored primary entrapment protection safety system. Specifically, in order to bear the UL mark, commercial door operators must provide a tamper-proof means of continuously monitoring either photosensors or a sensing edge for any method of operation, i.e., wiring type, other than constant-pressure-to-close. The UL325 - 2010 compliant LiftMaster Logic 4.0 and Medium Duty Logic operators on display at IDA Expo 2010 will utilize the new CPS-U and CPS-UN4 (NEMA 4) photosensors, designed specifically for use with the new operators.
However, the newest and most exciting addition to this product evolution is the Timer Light Status Card (TLSCARD), a plug-in option board exclusive to Logic 4.0, which provides the capability to control auxiliary devices such as warning lights, bells, horns, horn/strobes, etc. through relay activation occurring at various door positions (open, mid-stop or closed). Poised to offer dealers increased convenience and functionality, this card also provides an adjustable pre-warning timer that operates in conjunction with the timer-to-close feature found on Logic 4.0 to provide a warning signal prior to timed door closure. The TLSCARD will eliminate the need for dealers to special order warning light and timer modifications, effectively minimizing lead time issues by providing an off-the-shelf product for immediate use.
"Setting the precedent for safe, reliable and innovative products is something that Chamberlain, along with our network of loyal dealers, has been doing for the existence of our brand," continues Planck. "To us, the UL325 - 2010 compliance update was not a requirement, but more of an opportunity to introduce a new generation of solid, dependable and trustworthy products that can afford the dealer more opportunity to successfully bid and land more commercial business."
