Chamberlain Group and Amazon Launch FREE In-Garage Delivery, A Secure Alternative Delivery Destination for Homeowners
- On April 23, 2019
Amazon Prime packages can now be delivered safe and secure inside the garage in 50 cities and surrounding areas across the U.S.
OAK BROOK, IL, April 23, 2019 — Chamberlain Group (CGI), a global leader in access control solutions with its Chamberlain and LiftMaster garage door opener brands and myQ–connected technology, will enable free in-garage delivery for Amazon Prime members in 50 cities and surrounding areas across the U.S. through the Key by Amazon in-garage delivery solution. Armed with myQ smart technology, the garage will now provide Prime members with a secure, convenient place for all their package deliveries.
“It’s that sinking feeling, when you know a package is supposed to be on your front porch and you realize it’s not, that is prompting homeowners to demand innovative delivery solutions,” said Jeff Meredith, CGI President and Chief Operating Officer. “The good news is, the connected home is helping provide secure alternative delivery destinations. And, as a self-contained extension of the home, the smart garage offers a safe and convenient option for package delivery.”
A recent survey found 72% of Americans who live in a house or townhome take security measures to avoid having a package stolen, including canceling plans/staying home from work to wait for the package or having it delivered to a friend, family member or neighbor’s home. With Key by Amazon in-garage delivery, homeowners no longer have to reorganize their life just to receive a package. Key plus myQ smart garage access gives homeowners control over the package delivery process while offering a secure space that’s big enough to receive a video game console and takes weather out of the equation to ensure that new pair of shoes stay dry.
For homeowners who do not have a myQ smart-garage door opener, Chamberlain makes it easy to add myQ-connected technology to most brands of garage door openers with the myQ Smart Garage Hub. Less than what the average stolen package costs, consumers can purchase a myQ Smart Garage Hub ($49.99 special promotional launch price) and install it within minutes. Homeowners in the market for a new garage door opener can purchase a myQ-enabled Chamberlain or LiftMaster garage door opener. Amazon offers two Key SmartGarage kits to accommodate either option. Once myQ-connected, simply download the Key by Amazon app and follow the simple steps to sync it with the myQ Smart Garage Hub or garage door opener. For a limited time, customers can purchase a myQ Smart Garage Hub and Cloud Cam (Key Edition) bundle for $124.99, more than a 35% discount.
How Amazon Key for Garage Works
Prime members who live in one of 50 eligible cities and surrounding areas can select “In-garage delivery” at checkout when they shop on Amazon.com. On delivery day, customers receive notifications via the Key app during every step of the delivery process, from when the package is en-route, to the when garage door opens for the driver to deliver the package and then securely closes. Before a garage door will open, Amazon verifies that the correct driver is at the right address through an encrypted authentication process. Once this step is successfully completed, the door opens, the package is placed in the garage and the driver will not move on to their next delivery until the garage door closes. Additionally, homeowners with a Cloud Cam (Key Addition) can also choose to watch their delivery occur in real-time. Security measures are set in place along the entire delivery process and every delivery driver passes a comprehensive background check.
“We are excited to collaborate with CGI to make the garage a part of our growing suite of Key by Amazon services,” said Rohit Shrivastava, GM of Key by Amazon. “Prime members have already rated Key in-home and in-car delivery 4.7 out of 5 stars. We are thrilled to be able to offer them in-garage delivery which we are confident they will find an equally convenient place to have their packages delivered securely.”
